10 Steps for Avoiding RSI Pain

May 15th, 2008  |  Published in RSI Tips

In an article at BellaOnline, Ergonomics Editor Marji Hajic provides a list of 10 Steps for Avoiding Repetitive Strain Pain. The 10 steps are based on a previous article from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (10 Steps To Combat Low Back Pain), with modifications for the “computer athletes” who battle the every-day stresses and strain of working at a computer or desk job all day.

Here’s the list:

  1. Identify Negative Stresses
  2. Make Yourself Mobile
  3. Increase Strength
  4. Perform 20 Minutes of Aerobic Exercise Daily
  5. Pay Attention to Posture
  6. Sit Up Straight
  7. Use the Proper Ergonomic Set-Up
  8. Get a Good Night’s Sleep
  9. Warm-Up Before Physical Activity
  10. Live a Healthy Lifestyle

For detailed explanations of each of these steps, read the complete article.
