Evoluent Vertical Mouse 2 Review

LIVEdigitally.com offers a review of the Evoluent Vertical Mouse 2, an unusual but potentially useful pointing device. As the name indicates, this mouse is used in a vertical, rather than horizontal, position that supports your hand in a relaxed “handshake” position that eliminates forearm twisting.
This can help people suffering from Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) or related hand and wrist problems. By putting the hand in a more neutral position, it relieves the stress associated with rotating your arm to grasp the mouse. The Vertical Mouse is shaped much like an ordinary mouse, but turned sideways, and the buttons are operated by the same fingers. There are three buttons on the finger side, as well as a scroll wheel, and a thumb button. The button force is light for easy clicking, but still firm enough to avoid accidental actuation. The four buttons are programmable for actions such as double click, click lock, and scrolling.
The original Vertical Mouse came out in 2002, and garnered many positive reviews. The latest version has modern features such as high-resolution optical tracking, USB interface, a scroll wheel, and support for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux computers. The mouse is available in both right-hand and left-hand versions.

If you are interested in a completely hands free was to control your computer check out the SmartNAV from NaturalPoint. They have several testimonials on their site (http://www.naturalpoint.com/smartnav/products/testimonials/RSI_and_Carpal_Tunnel.html) and feature a 30 day money back guarantee. I think it is worth a look for anyone considering alternative input methods.

I have this mouse. I like it, I mouse with both hands and I want the left hand one, but it’s way more expensive than the right hand one. I also got one of these for my daughter, who also has CTS, and she does the same as me, switches back and forth with her hands and with two different mice.
